The McLean Revitalization Corporation (MRC) is pleased to announce that community leader W. Glenn Yarborough will be honored as the Grand Marshal of the McLean Winterfest Parade, to be held on December 8 in Downtown McLean.

Yarborough retired from the Army as a Colonel after 27 years of service and subsequently has had a distinguished career in the private sector.  He is an active Rotarian and has served as President of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).   He is active in many McLean-based organizations and has long been recognized as one of the most dedicated volunteer leaders in the McLean area community.

In  2020 he  received a distinguished citation from the Virginia legislature for his support of Virginia veterans. In 2021, the Friends of the McLean Community Center awarded him its “Friend in Deed” Award, and in 2022 the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce presented him with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

“As we bring back the McLean Winterfest Parade, we are thrilled to honor Glenn Yarborough for his longstanding and distinguished service that has helped make McLean the inviting and impactful community that it is,” said MRC President Tom Gilmore.

After a five-year hiatus, the McLean Winterfest Parade will once again wind its way through downtown McLean, showcasing the vibrant spirit of our community. MRC invites the community to join as local businesses, youth organizations, schools, non-profits, elected officials, and many more come together to celebrate the season and delight spectators of all ages.

The parade will take place on Old Chain Bridge Road, from Fleetwood Avenue to Elm Street. Pre-parade entertainment, featuring local dance groups, will be presented at the Langley Shopping Center and will begin at 2:30pm.   The parade itself will begin at 3:30pm.

Parade visitors will be offered opportunities for special Winterfest promotions at several of the 52 restaurants in Downtown McLean.  In addition, spectators can enter a free drawing for a variety of prizes from McLean area restaurants and retailers.

McLean Winterfest is presented by the McLean Revitalization Corporation (MRC), a non-profit organization working to create a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented Downtown McLean.  MRC’s mission is to be a catalyst and advocate for collaboration between businesses, property owners, Fairfax County government, and community members to drive initiatives to enhance Downtown McLean.
