The McLean Citizens Association is partnering with the Fairfax County Park Authority to celebrate the importance of dark skies.
The event at Lewinsville Park is scheduled to run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. Dark Sky Friends and the Analemma Society are also participating in the event. The event will take place at Lewinsville Park’s historic house at 1659 Chain Bridge Road in McLean.
The free event will include opportunities to learn about nighttime wildlife and constellations; learn about how you can protect the night sky; and enjoy the park at night, a small campfire, and cocoa.
Registration is not required, but it is encouraged. By signing up, the organizers can notify you in case of inclement weather. The rain date is the following day, Sunday, Nov. 13.
Online registration is available at Dark Sky Registration. To learn more about the importance of dark skies, visit the Fairfax County Park Authority dark skies page.
